The First Cup

You're ready to write a book proposal but don't know where to start. I've been there. They're right, the first step is the hardest. Let's work on that one together.

During this conference, you'll have a chance to share your ideas and receive feedback and questions from an impartial, independent potential reader. Together, we can talk through and refine your project idea. We will also discuss how to begin: how to look for agents, how to use their websites to make your proposal stand out, and the basics of proposal writing,

After this session, you'll receive several resources to help you take that first step.

To-Go Edits

MUG Edit: Remember the red pen? The one your teacher used to circle misspelled words and add in commas. My metaphorical red pen is ready for you. In a MUG edit, I'll correct mistakes in mechanics, usage, and grammar. (If you want, I'll pull out my teacher hat for a grammar lesson.)

Pour Over Edit: In this edit, I'll take a step back and look at your work, examining sentence fluency, word choice, voice, and paragraph organization. You'll get corrections and feedback to help strengthen your writing.

Coffee Shop Talk

In this virtual meet-up via Zoom, we can sit down and talk about your writing. This development conference is great for discussing big-picture ideas and overall organization. After an initial proposal edit, this is an opportunity to discuss structure of the proposal or what additions could be made to strengthen your chances of getting noticed.

This meeting provides the personal connection, feedback, encouragement, and support a writer needs during the lonely process of publication.
